Eugene Pak is a Partner and craft beer attorney at Wendel Rosen Black & Dean LLP  and heads its Craft Beer Law practice.  For over 20 years, Eugene has advised clients on a wide range of legal issues.   His current practice includes advising clients on advertising & marketing issues, commercial litigation, distribution contracts, employment law, financing, general business law, trademarks & copyrights, and TTB/ABC issues.   Eugene acts as general counsel to craft breweries, advising them on various legal issues that affect craft breweries, and drawing on the expertise and experience of his colleagues as needed (see below).  Prior to joining Wendel Rosen, he worked at large international and national law firms in San Francisco and was in-house counsel at a Silicon Valley technology company.

Eugene has represented both Fortune 500 companies as well as start-ups in federal and state court litigation and in business transactions.  He is also an experienced trademark and copyright counselor and litigator. He has managed trademark portfolios for clients with hundreds of trademarks worldwide as well as start-ups and entrepreneurs, and has litigated numerous trademark and copyright disputes.  Earlier in his career, Eugene also litigated Commerce Clause cases involving state milk standards and pooling regulations, as well as class action cases brought under B&P Code 17200.


​Eugene has been a speaker at the Brewers Association's Craft Brewers Conference, the California Craft Brewers Association meetings, Brewbound Session (San Diego), the Craft Beverage Expo, and the Sonoma County Beer, Cider & Spirits Conference.  He has been quoted by CBS Radio, Paste Magazine, Brewbound, All About Beer, Entrepreneur.com, The Daily Journal, The Recorder, and other media outlets on legal issues affecting the craft beverage industry.  Eugene is an instructor on legal issues for the Food Craft Institute's "Business of Beer" course.

He has also been a speaker on panels before various legal associations including the American Bar Association (ABA), Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), International Trademark Association (INTA), International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL), National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), Practicing Law Institute (PLI), and the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF).  

Eugene received his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of  Law (Boalt Hall) where he was an Associate Editor for the California Law Review.  He grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan.  Eugene lives in the SF Bay Area with his two daughters and Volpino (a dog, not a car).  He enjoys citrusy IPAs and sour beers, as well as a good Imperial or chocolate stout.
